So let’s talk about your music career, when did it all begin?.
“Well I started singing at age 8 , when we were attending Olumba Olumba obu, but with time we relocated to another environment and I had to tell my parents we will change church so I started attending redeemed Christian Church of God ,I continued singing in children choir down to teens choir till I was transferred to the main church choir, but officially I started recording songs in 2018”.
So tell us, How was the journey before you got signed to North Hill Music Entertainment?
“Thank you. Wow, it’s really worth sharing because those were processes I had to follow. The journey was tough.
I was alone in it, tossed around by some producers who called me wack , at a point I almost gave up.
I remember a particular one didn’t want to produced for me because the bank he gave me to pay the money was difficult to locate.
One time I went to see the owner of a particular record label ,they don’t have any gospel artist ,he asked me questions like ” what do you have to offer?” You are not mercy chinwo nah so I can’t sign you. I stood up and left his office”
Really? That must have a been a whole lot for you.
Tell us about the challenges you’ve faced so far as a gospel music artiste?
“The challenges are based on before and now
Before I mean when I just started, finance was a major set back I practically did everything on my own I had a lot of offer to do circular music, but I said no.
Then now that am signed the challenges are I’ll have to Meet up my Management’s rules, I must have a good song that we can put out and we don’t drop song without video too, then recently I just can’t move around without been spotted as Eva Praise.
Also it’s not easy adding school to ministry”
Yea, Yea, I can imagine. You just walking around in school and someone will be screaming your name. **Laughs**
Alright Ma’am, I’m curious, and I’m sure that your fans out there are also curios too. and that brings us to our next question.
So tell us, When you are not in the studio recording or performing live, what can someone find you doing?
“Oh well a lot, I have a lot of hand crafts. I make clothes, I make hair, I bake, I decorate, make bead and hats or I can be doing graphics with my laptop”
Wow, wow wow!, Mama Eva Praise is also a graphic designerrrr.
This is simply amazing.
So which artist(s) do you look up to?
Both national and international.
“Hmmmm , I actually don’t have one in particular I tend to learn from all of them”
Tell us where you see yourself in the next five years?
“Ok you said five years so I’ll give you that in five years Eva Praise will be a global name, but in 2 years Eva Praise will be an international figure touching lives and winning souls with music”
I’m sure you have a word of advise for music ministers just like yourself who are just starting out?
“Yes , and I’ll say to them consistency is key , keep doing what you are doing, keep dropping those songs, you will definitely get to the top someday”
That brings us to the end of this exclusive interview.
